The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra is among the most renowned and highly regarded Polish symphony orchestras. It performs in leading musical centres in Poland and abroad, and is regularly invited to international festivals.
The ensemble has recorded several dozens of albums, many of which have won awards, including three International Classical Music Awards (Feliks Nowowiejski’s Quo vadis – ICMA 2018, and Urlicht. Songs of Death and Resurrection with baritone Samuel Hasselhorn – ICMA 2025, awarded in two categories). A recording of Feliks Nowowiejski’s Piano Concerto (with pianist Jacek Kortus) and Cello Concerto (with Bartosz Koziak) won the orchestra the Fryderyk Award in 2023.
The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra has appeared under the baton of world-renowned conductors including Sir Neville Marriner, Witold Rowicki, Stanisław Skrowaczewski, Jan Krenz, and Christopher Hogwood, and soloists (including Piotr Anderszewski, Martha Argerich, Piotr Beczała, Rafał Blechacz, Ida Haendel, Ewa Podleś, Gil Shaham, Pretty Yende, and Krystian Zimerman). They accompanied the finalists of the first post-war Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1949, and since 1952 they accompany finalists of the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań.
