Mariusz Godlewski is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied under Bogdan Makal. A prizewinner of numerous national and international competitions, he has received scholarships from the City of Wrocław and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In 2001–2002 he continued his studies in Vienna with Leopold Spitzer. He made his debut at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw in 2002, singing the role of Pelléas in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande.
Godlewski performs regularly on major operatic stages in Poland and abroad. In 2011, he took part in the world premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s song Powiało na mnie morze snów at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. He has appeared under the baton of Valery Gergiev and Krzysztof Penderecki, including performances at the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg and the Beijing Music Festival. In 2014, he received the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Award for his roles of Scarpia (Tosca) and Zurga (The Pearl Fishers). In 2015, he was nominated for the Wrocław Culture Radio Award. In 2019, he recorded solo albums with songs by Stanisław Moniuszko and Fryderyk Chopin. His repertoire includes major operatic roles, songs, and German and English Baroque music.
