Jonian Ilias Kadesha is a musician of “Renaissance” breadth, whose interests in philosophy and rhetoric inform his imaginative sound worlds and stylistic precision. As a soloist, he has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Sir András Schiff, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. He is increasingly recognised as a soloist-director, working with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the Aurora Orchestra, often improvising his own ornamentation and cadenzas.
A committed chamber musician, Kadesha is a co-founder of the award-winning Trio Gaspard, a member of the Kelemen Quartet, and the founder of the Caerus Chamber Ensemble. He has worked with Martha Argerich, Steven Isserlis, and Patricia Kopatchinskaja. In the 2024/25 season, he curated a six-concert series for the Leeds International Concert Season.
His recordings for Linn Records, including the acclaimed Suite Italienne, have been praised for their “boundless imagination” and “stylistic confidence”.
An alumnus of the Kronberg Academy, Kadesha performs on the 1743 “ex-Moser” Guarneri del Gesù.
